Plantain Flower is called as Vazhaipoo / Valaipoo in Tamil & is very good for health. Vazhaipoo mixed with Chenna Dhal, fried in Deep oil, yummy snack for evening with Tea.
Servings: 4 Persons
Vazhaippu (cleaned & chopped 2cups)
Chenna Dhal (1½ cup) (kadalai paruppu)
Green chillies (3, Finely Chopped)
Sombu (1 tsp)
Coriander Leaves (¼ cup)
Asafoetida (¼ tsp)
Curry leaves (2 sprigs)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Cleaning Banana/Plaintain flower / Vazhaipu is different & kindly take extra care, remove stamen and transparent onion skin like piece and discard them. Chop Small.
Soak Chenna dhal for an hour.
Take one handfull of Chenna dhal and keep aside.
Grind the remaining Chenna dhal with green chillies & Somb.
Mix the batter along with flower remaining whole dal and coriander leaves, Asafoetida, Curry leaves and salt.
Heat oil in a pan, when ready, ball the batter & flat them, fry in the oil till golden brown in medium flame.
Dole out hot Vadai with Chutney or can be used as side dish for Rice Varieties.
