Cabbage Carrot Poriyal

Carrots & cabbage cooked with Onions & garnished with coconuts, Wow.. a healthy side dish for  Chapathi & perfect side-dish for rice.

Servings: 4 Persons


Carrot (¼kg Chopped Small)

Cabbage (¼kg, chopped finely) (muttai gos)

Green Chilly  (2 stilted)

for seasoning: Jeera, Mustard & Urud Dal – ¼ tsp each

Curry leaves (a sprig)

Onion (Chopped ½ cup)

Coconut (Grated ½ cup or grinded coarsely using mixie)

Oil (½tsp)

Salt – to taste


Heat oil in a pan/Kadai, fry mustard seeds, dal, chilly, curry leaves, wait till mustard sputters.

Add onion and fry for a minute in medium flame, in medium flame

Add carrots, cabbage , salt & sprinkle water. 

Lower the flame & cover it with a lid for 10 minutes.

When cooked, add grated coconut & mix well.


Dole out Yummy Carrot cabbage Poriyal – as a sidedish for Rice/Chapathi
