Carrots cooked with Onions & with tthe flavours of Green Chillies, Wow.. a yummy combination for a perfect meal in S.India.

Servings: 4 Persons


Carrot (½kg Chopped Small)
Green Chilly  (2 stilted)
for seasoning: Jeera, Chenna dal, Mustard & Urud Dal – ½ tsp each

Curry leaves (a sprig)
Onion (Chopped ½ cup)
Optional – Coconut (Grated ½ cup)
Oil (½tsp)
Salt – to taste


Heat oil in a pan/Kadai, fry mustard seeds, dals, chilly, curry leaves till mustard sputter in medium flame.

Add onion and fry for a minute in medium flame.

Add carrots, salt & sprinkle water. 

Lower the flame & cover it with a lid for 10 minutes.


Dole out Yummy Carrot Poriyal – as a sidedish for Rice/Chapathi
