This delightful signature rice dish is cooked with coconut milk in a airtight vessel so as to absorb the richness flavor of the coconut and spices. hmm.. So Yummy!!

Servings: 4 Persons


Basmati Rice (4cups)
Coconut (Grated 2 cups)

Onion (3nos – Chopped)
Green Chilly (8nos)
Fresh Green Peas (1cup) (Optional)
Cinnamon (4nos)
Cloves (4nos)
Cardamom (4nos)
Bay leaf (4nos)
Ginger Garlic paste (3tsp)
Mint leaves (10sprigs)
Coriander leaves (4sprigs)
Salt (to taste)
Oil 1 cup
Ghee 1/2 cup


Grind coconut & green chillies in a electric mixer, filter it and extract 6 cups of milk.

In a thick bottomed pan, heat oil, add Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Bay leaves and Onion. Saute till onion becomes golden brown color in low flame.

Add mint leaves and fry for a minutes. Now add the coconut milk, coriander leaves and salt. Let it boil.

In the mean time, wash the rice and keep aside.

Using electric cooker: Pour the gravy and spread the rice. Add Ghee after 10 minutes.

Dum Style: Heat a thick vessel/ Pressure Cooker, Pour the gravy and spread the rice, in low flame, change the position of the cooker every 3 miniutes. Add Ghee after 10 minutes.
