Raddish / Mullangi – grated & prepared with powdered fried bengal gram, has a different mild & yummy taste.

Servings: 4 Persons


Radish (Peeled & grated – 3 cups)

Fried Bengal Gram (½cup powdered in electric mixie) (pottu Kadalai)

Mustard (½tsp)

Urad Dal (½tsp)

Somb (½tsp – Powdered)

Garlic (Peeled & chopped, 1 tsp)

Curry leaves (1 sprig)

Salt (to taste)

Onion (½cup, finely chopped)

Green Chillies (2nos)

Oil (1tsp)


Heat oil in a pan, add mustard & urad dal, wait till mustard splutters.

Add Green chillies, garlic, Onion, curry leaves & saute for a minute.

Add grated radish , salt & reduce the flame, cover with lid & wait till cooked.

When ready, garnish with Fried gram powder, somb and coriander leaves.


Dole out yummy Mullangi puttu, as a side dish for rice & roti.
