A popular fish available in almost all Chettinad hotels & in SriLanka. This fish is very small in size (2-10cms), deep fried in oil makes more crisp in hotels or can also be shallow fried @ homes. The below recipe is deep fried Nethili Fish.
Servings: 4 Persons
Fresh Nethili Fish – ½kg, well cleaned
Chilli Powder – 3 tsp (tastes good with home made Chilli powder)
Salt – to tatse
Oil – to deep fry
Corn Flour or Maida – 2 tsp (optional)
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
In a bowl, mix Chilli powder, salt with less water & marinate the fish, keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, fry 8-10 fishes at a time, in medium flame.
Finally, fry the curry leaves, please take care, as the curry leaves may crackle.
