Fresh mint leaves grinded with shallots, garlic coconut and green chillies, gives you a yummy taste.

Servings: 4 Persons


Mint leaves (1 hand full)

Green Chillies (4nos)

Tamarind (¼ lemon size)

Garlic (8cloves)

Coconut (1cup, grated)

Fried Gram (2tsp) (pottukadalai)

Shallots (4nos) (or Small Onion 1no)

Salt (to taste)

Gingely oil (1tsp)

Split Urad Dal (½tsp)

Mustard (¼tsp)

Curry Leaves (1sprig)


Heat oil in a pan, add garlic, onion, green chillies, saute, add the cleaned mint leaves, saute for a minute in low flame..

Remove and add to the Electric blender, along with grated Coconut, Salt, & Tamarind.

Grind to paste with less water. 

For Seasoning: Heat 1tsp oil, add mustard & curry leaves, saute, wait till mustard sputters. Add to the chutney.


Dole out mint chutney with Hot Rice or Idly / Dosa.
