Rava / Sooji prepared with vegetables and with garam masala spices, tastes yummy!!

Servings: 4 Persons


Rava / Suji (2 cups)

Onion (2nos.-Chopped)

Green Chillies (2nos. Slitted)

Carrot, beans, potato, peas – chopped small – 2 cups

Tomato (1no Chopped)

Ginger Garlic Crushed (1tsp)

Cloves (2nos)

Cinnamon (2nos)

Turmeric Powder (2 pinches)

Curry leaves (1 sprig)

Coriander leaves (2 sprigs, chopped)

Mint leaves (2 sprigs, chopped)

Ghee (10tsp)

Salt (to taste)


Heat a thick bottomed pan, fry suji/rava in low flame, till the colour changes, and you get a pleasant smell. (Do not wait till its brown). Keep aside to  Cool off.

Heat 1tsp Ghee in a pan, add cinnamon, cloves,  ginger garlic, Curry leaves, Green chillies, onion, vegetables, Saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add 6 cups of water, Turmeric powder & salt. Let it boil.

Reduce flame to low. Add Suji/Rava to the water slowly, mixing it thoroughly, avoiding the formation of lumps.

Add the remaining Ghee, Mix well. Remove from flame & Cover it with lid. Wait for 10 minutes.


Dole out hot Rava Kitchidi, Garnishing with mint & coriander leaves, tastes good with Raitha or Chutney or Sambar.
