Servings: 4 Persons
Ridge Gourd – 1 kg
Mustard – ¼tsp
Urad Dal – ¼tsp
Green chillies – 3 nos, slitted
Onion – 1, chopped
Turmeric powder – 3 pinches
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1tsp
Garlic – 6 cloves, crushed (Optional)
Ginger – 1 inch, chopped finely (Optional)
Peel off skins of the vegetable. Chop small.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard & dal, wait till mustard splutters.
Add green chillies & onions, saute well. (add optional garlic/ginger here)
Add ridge gourd, turmeric powder and salt, mix well.
Reduce the flame to low, Cover it with a lid, cook for 10-25 minutes, mixing often. Do not add water.
Dole out yummy Peerkangai poriyal, tastes good with rice.
