Sooji Paniyaaram (Rave Guliyappa)

A different paniyaram made using Sooji & Curd; I tasted in my Maharastrian friends house, yummy & crispy; Paniyaram is also called as Appe or Guliyappa.

Servings: 4 Persons
Recipe: Mrs.Vijay Yadav, Uganda

Ingredients

Rava / Sooji – 1 cup

Curd – ½ cup

Water – ½ cup

Salt – to taste

Oil – to fry

For Seasoning;

Oil – 1tsp

Mustard / Kaduku – ½tsp

Urad dal – ½tsp

Curry leaves – 1sprig

Onion – 1 chopped finely

Green Chillies – 2nos chopped finely

Coriander leaves – 1 sprig, chopped

Asafoetida – 2 pinches

Optional: Grated carrots

Method

Mix sooji & curd in a bowl with little water & salt. Keep aside for a hour.

Heat oil in a pan,add mustard and urad dal, wait till mustard splutters.

Add onions,chillies, curry leaves and saute for a minute.

Mix the seasoning to the batter along with coriander leaves.

Heat your paniyaram pan with 1 spoon of oil in each hole.

Add one scoop of batter in each hole and fry, turn over.

Servings

Dole out yummy hot crisp rava paniyaram with chutney of your choice.
