Sora Puttu

Recipe Spotlight  Sora Puttu, is an authentic  recipe – fish fried in an unusual way from that of our regular fish fry. This recipe is Very famous in Tamil Nadu & in some places of Kerala, the South most states of India.

Servings: 4 Persons


Sora Fish – 1kg (chopped big)

Turmeric Powder – ¼tsp

Green chilly – 5nos (chopped small)

Ginger – 2 inch cubes (chopped small)

Garlic – 15 cloves (Peeled & chopped small)

Snauf – 2tsp ( Somb)

Salt – to taste

Oil – ¼cup


Cook the cleaned fish in water for 15 minutes, with turmeric powder.

 Strain the water, and cool off the fish.

Peel off the skins & remove the bones.

Using hand, split the fish into smaller pieces.

Heat 4tsp oil in a thick pan, add snauf, ginger, garlic and green chillies, sauté for a minute.

Add fish & salt to the pan, saute in low flame for 30 minutes, fry till crisp.


Dole out Yummy Sora Puttu.
