Plantain Flower is called as Vazhaipoo in Tamil & is very good for health. Valaipoo cooked and garnished with Green chilli and salt, a healthy cooking for meal.



Servings: 4 Persons

Vazhaippu (cleaned & chopped 4cups)

Green Chillies (2nos Slitted)

Jeera (½ tsp)

Mustard (½ tsp)

Curry leaves (2 sprigs)

Salt to taste

Oil (½ tsp )


Cleaning Banana/Plaintain flower / Vaazhaipu is different & kindly take extra care, remove stamen and transparent onion skin like piece and discard them. Chop Small.

Heat oil in a pan, when ready, fry mustard, Jeera, Curry leaves & green chillies; wait till Mustard sputters. Add Plantain flowers and sprinkle water & salt, Cover & cook in low flame.


Dole out Yummy Vaazhaipu Poriyal, can be used as side dish for Rice Varieties.
